KUALA LUMPUR: A video has gone viral showing a gang of motorcyclists racing off from a stop light at night, only for one of them to collide into a car crossing the intersection at Jalan Raja Laut.
The video, posted on a Facebook page 'Tragedi Apa Hari Ini?' by user Mohamad Fahri, showed the motorcycle swerving at the last second before smashing into a black Range Rover.
The collision knocked the rider off his motorcyle and left his motorcycle a wreck.
Other motorcyclists swarmed the scene while traffic piled up behind them.
One motorcyclist was seen offering help while some people honked and shouted.
Online reactions were mostly negative, quickly pointing out the racer's fault for driving ahead while the traffic light had yet to turn green.
"The light was still red, why did you go?", said Nur Sarahah Al-Farisi.
"You can see the reflection of the red light. After a while, then we see the green", said Aniz Nordin.
"Look at the reflection of the light, it is still red!", said Khairizzuan Abd Aziz.
Some thought that such foolish actions tarnish the reputation of other motorcyclists.
"I'm a motorhead too but I am not this stupid", said Akemal Fadhli.
Others lamented the state of the country's youth that involve themselves in wasteful and dangerous acts.
"It is sad to see the youth, street racing without a purpose in life. Wake up, it is 2024", said Mohd Zaihan.
