#NSTviral: Bodyguard offers eyes to child with eye cancer

KUALA LUMPUR: A man has offered to donate his eyes to a child suffering from retinoblastoma (retinal cancer).

"When I die, please take my eyes. I am sincere. You can DM (direct message) me," Yusoff, 50, said in a comment on a video posted by Khairunnisa Mustafa, 39, mother of 6-year-old Qaiser Ali Naim Kagama.

Khairunnisa thanked Yusoff for his generosity, but said eye donation was not an option as Naim's condition was related to his retina.

Yusoff, a private bodyguard, said he had always wanted to donate his organs to those in need after his death.

"When I saw a video of the child (Naim) on my For You page (on TikTok), I was deeply saddened. I cried thinking about his suffering.

"As a father myself, seeing the child made me think of my own child. I thought of how I would feel if he were my child.

"That is why I wish to donate my eyes to him when I pass away. I've always wanted to donate my organs.

"Once I am gone, I don't need my organs anymore. It's better to donate them, like to this child, who is young and has a long future ahead," he told Harian Metro.

Yusoff said he had yet to contact Naim's parents, but planned to reach out to them soon to learn more about the child's condition.

"I pray for their happiness, for them to be blessed with rezeki and for the parents to remain strong in facing challenges.

"The parents are chosen individuals. Not everyone can face such a test. I envy them because caring for a sick child gives them great pahala."

When contacted, Khairunnisa said she was very moved by Yusoff's kindness and willingness to donate his eyes to Naim.
