KUALA LUMPUR: Two friends experienced a terrifying moment when they came face to face with a tiger while fishing in a forested area around Felda Nitar 1, Mersing, Johor, on Thursday.
TikTok user nazrie_iskandar said the incident occurred when they were engrossed in fishing, and his friend encountered the tiger while trying to retrieve his bag a few metres behind them.
Momentarily frozen in shock, the man, however, managed to remain calm during the tense situation, following instructions and advice from Nazrie.
Instead of panicking or running away, Nazrie instructed to slowly back away while he recited Surah Al-Fatihah and prayed for protection from the tiger.
Once the tiger left, both men climbed a tree for safety, to ensure that it did not return before descending.
"We were just fishing when suddenly the tiger came. It was literally just two steps away. Luckily, it only took the bag.
"At first, we felt like running, but if we had, it would have gone after us. So, I recited a prayer, and the tiger grabbed the bag and ran off. A bit further ahead, it just lay down.
"Alhamdulillah, we were given another chance at life. What an unforgettable experience, facing a tiger while fishing.
"To all my friends, be cautious when venturing into the jungle. We can plan, but only God determines our fate. Alhamdulillah, thank you, Allah," Nazrie said.
