KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods can disrupt daily life for many residents, but one couple in Kulim, Kedah, refused to let rising waters dampen their wedding celebration.
A viral TikTok video shared by user @lilyoodin shows guests attending the wedding reception despite floodwaters reaching thigh-deep levels. The footage, taken in a flooded area, captures the community gathered to celebrate the special occasion.
Guests can be seen enjoying their meals under the house.
Even as the water levels rose, guests remained unperturbed, queuing patiently for food and carrying on with the festivities.
The wedding, though marked by an unexpected natural event, became a unique and memorable celebration for the couple and their guests.
The video which was uploaded on Tuesday garnered over one million views, with many praising the villagers for their calmness.
"The newlyweds will never forget their special day. Such memories. Next time it floods, they'll immediately remember it (the wedding). No worries about having to clean up all the pots and pans," says user @c..zack6
"It is rare to have a wedding like this. Truly something different from the rest. If someone requests 'teh tarik', just hand them a cup and let them serve themselves," user @safaya jested, implying that the brown floodwater resembles the popular Malaysian drink.
