KUALA LUMPUR: A viral video showing a woman riding a motorcycle while using her phone has sparked widespread concern and criticism on social media, highlighting road safety issues.
The video, shared by X user @update11111, appears to show the woman taking a selfie or recording a video while riding.
This reckless behaviour drew immediate backlash from netizens.
"Uishh, that's dangerous, kid. Using your phone while riding is one thing, but your handbag is also worn in a way that makes it easy to be snatched," read the caption accompanying the video.
The clip also shows the motorcyclist following closely behind a lorry, increasing the risk of a collision while distracted by her phone.
Many users flooded the comments section, condemning her actions and pointing out the dangers posed to both herself and other road users.
"Are you recording a 30-second TikTok video? A TikTok to document your journey to meet the Almighty?" chided @wiraEhsn.
Another user, @BornDaddy1, warned about the consequences of such reckless behaviour: "If the lorry brakes suddenly, it could end in disaster! No common sense! A life valued at RM1."
Several users also urged authorities to take action against the dangerous conduct, emphasising the need for stricter enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
