KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens have expressed profound gratitude towards a compassionate local woman who took it upon herself to feed a stray dog she encountered on the roadside.
In a TikTok clip shared by @popieesofee, the woman was driving through a village in Perlis when she noticed a stray dog on the opposite side of the road.
The dog appeared to be waiting for something, prompting her to stop her car. As she did so, the dog crossed the road and approached, looking hungry and seemingly pleading for help.
Patiently, the dog waited next to the woman's car as she searched for food to offer.
Unfortunately, she could only find some chocolate biscuits, which led her to drive 7km to a nearby food stall to purchase fried rice and chicken for the dog, whom she affectionately named "Marie".
The treatment of stray animals, particularly dogs, has become a hot topic among netizens in light of recent instances of animal cruelty that have sparked outrage and calls for better care of strays.
In the car, the woman blew on the food to ensure it was not too hot for the dog, further demonstrating her compassion.
Upon returning to the spot where she first saw Marie, the woman was initially unable to find the dog.
However, after circling the area, she eventually spotted her and stopped once again.
After feeding the stray, the woman affectionately promised Marie that she would return to visit her, driving away with the grateful dog watching her depart.
The video has amassed over 500,000 views and 42,600 likes, moving netizens to tears over the touching interaction between the woman and the stray, with many praising her kindness.
User @blossom_anoy77 shared how touched she was by the woman's determination to return and feed the stray dog, while @japzfen expressed gratitude for her actions, stating that the world needs more people like her.
Meanwhile, @suzaidimahamud revealed that the stray dog resides in his village and is well-fed and friendly to others.
