KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has to clarify his stand on maintaining that Pakatan Rakyat still exists at state government level.
Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) strategy director Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said Azmin needs to come clean over his political direction.
Azmin’s recent statement that the country’s richest state is still being governed by the defunct Pakatan Rakyat has since been lambasted by DAP leaders.
“We know where Azmin is coming from and why he said that. He has his reasons but he has to make it clear to the public,” said Dzulkefly.
Dzulkefly added that Azmin is on a “tightrope” and that he has to do a balancing act.
“It is not going to be easy as he needs to maintain the state government until its dissolution before the next general election.
“People are confused with what is happening on the ground and they are concerned with where this is going. He is not sharing much and this will worsen the situation as people want clarity,” he said.
Meanwhile, independent political analyst Khoo Kay Peng said, to have both Pakatan Rakyat and Pakatan Harapan (as stated by Azmin) is a ‘normal’ scenario.
“He is just trying to keep the state government intact right up until the next general election.
“This has happened before where two coalitions exist in a government. There is nothing wrong,” he said.
Azmin had recently responded in a statement to questions on why there was no state-level Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Selangor.
He said carrying out the mandate and trust given to Pakatan Harapan is more crucial than talking about setting up the Pakatan Harapan structure.
