KOTA BARU: Kelantan PKR chairman Ab Aziz Ab Kadir has denied claims that he refused to recognise the appointment of Mohd Khairul Amin Ab Rahman as the party's new state youth chief.
Ab Aziz said he had only expressed his disagreement with the process of removing the former state youth chief, Dr Mohd Hafidz Rizal Amran, recently.
"It is not true that I refused to accept Mohd Khairul as he is also my friend, but I was disappointed with the removal of Dr Hafidz from the post.
"Those who made the decision did not discuss with us at the state-level. Dr Hafidz's removal did not follow the right procedures and did not comply with party rules," he told the NST.
Asked on Kelantan PKR's next move, Ab Aziz said they would not interfere with the decision and would leave it to the party's leadership (to decide).
"PKR Youth Chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad should listen to opinions from the state-level before making such decisions (to remove Dr Hafidz).
"He should have negotiated this matter with the youth division chiefs as well as the state PKR chairman before taking the move," he said.
Nik Nazmi reportedly sacked Dr Hafidz with immediate effect on Monday via a WhatsApp message after the Kelantan PKR committee said it had lost confidence in Dr Hafidz.
Dr Hafidz, in response, branded his removal from the position as a unilateral decision made as a result of his continued cooperation with the state government under the Pas administration.
He said the removal was made without any proper discussion with the PKR Youth political bureau, PKR Youth and Kelantan state council, as stated in PKR regulations.
