Political stability will bring more progress to Sabah says Rahman Dahlan

KOTA KINABALU: Political stability is the key to bring in more developments to Sabah, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s office Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

“We used to be left behind in development, about 10 or 20 years from other states, including Sarawak, as there was too much instability in Sabah politics.

“But when the Umno came to Sabah, it becomes more stable and we are able to start planning for development,” he said when meeting with the Sepanggar United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) leaders and members here Sunday night.

Abdul Rahman, who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary, said there are good reasons that since Independence Day, BN has been the governing party of the government.

He added BN is a successful multiracial party which constantly provides for the people.

Abdul Rahman also said UPKO, under the leadership of its former president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok and acting president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, is a mature and disciplined party.

“Both leaders with good vibrancy have shown consistent service and loyalty to BN.

“It is therefore important for party members (to emulate their leaders) to give undivided support to candidates chosen by the president,” he said, adding BN is confident to win back Inanam state seat which was lost to the opposition in the last election due to internal politics.

Earlier, Abdul Rahman also announced that a van will be provided to each Sepanggar UPKO and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

Also present was acting Upko Sepanggar chief Christopher Motogil.
