PUCHONG: The Puchong parliamentary seat will witness a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional (BN), PKR and Pas in the 14th General-Election.
PKR is fielding its incumbent, Gobind Singh Deo, who will take on BN’s Ang Chin Tat from Gerakan, and Pas’ Mohd Rosharizan Mohd Rozlan.
The Seri Kembangan state seat will see a straight fight between BN’s candidate Chang Toong Woh, who is from MCA; and PKR’s Ean Yong Hian Wah, who is the incumbent.
Meanwhile, the Seri Serdang state seat will see a showdown between Dr Mariah Mahmud from PKR, Pas’ Noor Hanim Ismail and BN candidate Mohamad Satim Diman.
Their candidacies were announced by the Election Commission’s returning officer for the constituency, Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali, at the Puchong Indah multipurpose hall on Saturday.
BN’s Ang, who will be contesting the general election for the first time, said he has no first time jitters.
“I’m always prepared and have been preparing way before the election. Although it is my first time contesting, but I’m not nervous and I will continue to serve the people of Puchong as I have done all this while.
“The top leadership believe that I can do it and I will not let the people down,” said the 48-year-old businessman.
Chang, 41, who is contesting in Seri Kembangan, said he is ready to compete against more established opponents.
“I’m new but I’m learning. I will keep fighting and Barisan Nasional is depending on me now. I will win this seat,” said Chang, who is also the Serdang MCA Youth deputy chief.
Meanwhile, Gobind 45, who is defending the seat for the second time, said the last 10 years have been “challenging” and that there is still more work to be done.
In 2013, Gobind beat BN’s Datuk A. Kohilan Pillay, securing 62,938 votes.
