KUALA LUMPUR: A landslide that caused a riverbank to collapse at the water treatment plant construction site near Idaman BSP in Taman Mas, Puchong, yesterday has led to new cracks in the area.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar today said the cracks were believed to have resulted from ground movement following the incident.
He, however, said the situation was under control.
"The Fire and Rescue Department is monitoring the stop-work orders issued at the site."
He said a team from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Department was conducting further inspections.
"There are no casualties in the incident. All workers were evacuated from the construction site within 20 minutes of the slope collapse.
"The landslide is believed to have begun with a noise caused by shifting ground, prompting the activation of the emergency alarm and the evacuation of workers."
The cause of the incident is being investigated.
Earlier, Gamuda Bhd, in a statement, said all construction work at the site had been temporarily halted to assess the situation and implement additional safety protocols.
Yesterday, the landslide, which caused a riverbank to collapse, submerged the construction area of the water treatment plant project to a depth of 19 metres.
