PEKAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Pekan parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrives to cast his vote at Sekolah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Pekan at 9.20am.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
Clad in blue shirt, he was seen entering the second voting stream to cast his vote for the 14th General Election (GE14).
The Pekan parliamentary seat is a four-corner battle between Najib - who has held the seat since 1976 - and Captain (Rtd) Athiatudin Daud (Pas); Mohamad Zahid Md Arip (PKR), and Datuk Paduka Abd Kadir Sainuddin (Independent).
There are 2,390 voters - including postal voters - registered to vote at the voting centre here, which have five voting streams.
The Pekan constituency has four state seats, namely Pulau Manis, Peramu Jaya, Chini and Bebar, and has a total of 89,076 voters.
Of this, 78,385 or 88 per cent are Malays; while 1,788 Chinese (2.01 per cent); 737 Indians (0.83 per cent); and 8,166 other ethnicities, including Orang Asli (9.17 per cent).
