SEREMBAN: The opposition pack has proven that the coalition was the choice of the voters when it won big at the Seremban constituency at the 14th General Election last night.
Its candidate Loke Siew Fook defended the hot seat with a majority of 30,694 votes.
He received 55,503 votes to defeat BN candidate Deputy Education Minister II, Datuk Chong Sin Woon who had 24,809 votes and Pas’ Shariffuddin Ahmad had 11,506 votes.
The result was announced by Election Returning Officer, Datuk Zulkifli Baharan.
For Lenggeng state seat, PKR candidate Suhaimi Kassim won with 7,456 votes, while PAS’ Mohammad Ghazali Abu Bakar had 1,612 and BN’s Mazalan Maarop 6,470.
PKR candidate J Arul Kumar defended his Nilai state seat with a majority of 9,825 votes when he received 14,219 votes to defeat Leaw Kok Chan from BN (4,394) and Mohd Abu Zarim Abdul Rahman from PAS (2,151).
In Lobak state seat, Chew Seh Yong who former State Assemblyman for Bahau proved that the change was not futile when he received 13,647 votes to beat BN’s Lim Kok Kian (1,865 votes) and S Balamurugan from PAP (92 votes).
For Temiang state seat, Ng Chin Tsai from DAP won with majority of 3,063 votes from a total of 5,894 votes while Siow Koi Voon from BN got 2,831 votes and Yau Con Seng from PAS had 369 votes.
Syamsul Amri Ismail a.k.a Syamsul Debat failed to take hold of Sikamat state seat when he only managed to get 6,419 votes compared to the incumbent Aminuddin Harun from PKR who had 9,832 votes while Rahim Yusof from PAS (1,331) and Independent candidate Bujang Abu (15).
In fact, incumbent Ampangan State Assemblyman Datuk Abu Ubaidah Redza had to step down when he only managed 5,441 votes to let Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek from PKR won with 6,801 votes while Mustaffa Daharun from PAS had 983 votes.
