102 illegals held in Negri Sembilan

SEREMBAN: A series of raids by the Negri Sembilan Immigration Department has led to the detention of 102 illegal immigrants.

State department director Kennith Tan Ai Kiang said the raids, which began about 9.30am on Tuesday and ended at 4am today, saw his personnel raiding 18 locations, including construction sites, entertainment outlets, restaurants and business premises.

Twenty personnel were involved, he said.

"These raids were done following complaints and information gathered about the misuse of visitor passes, and not having valid permits and documents."

He added that the department had checked 127 people.

He said those detained included 32 Bangladeshis, 26 Indonesians, five Pakistanis, one Myanmar national, five Indians as well as 15 Chinese women and eight Thai women.

They were between 14 and 55 years old, he added.

"We will take the illegals to the Lenggeng Immigration Detention Depot."
