We want to remain in BN - Penang MyPPP on Kayveas' plan to go independent [NSTTV]

GEORGE TOWN: MyPPP Penang today rejected its president Tan Sri M. Kayveas’ stand to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) with immediate effect to function as an independent party supporting the current government.

Its Penang vice-chairman A. Raja Segaran said the state leadership is supportive of party vice-president Datuk Seri Maglin Dennis D’Cruz’s decision to remain in BN.

“All 13 divisions and 45 branches in the state support Maglin’s decision in wanting MyPPP to remain in BN and fully support the coalition.

“Our stand is also backed by MyPPP Penang chairman Datuk Loga Bala Mohan, who is currently attending the supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur,” he told a press conference here today.

Last Saturday, Kayveas announced that MyPPP would formally leave BN with immediate effect, stressing that the decision was made after the Registrar of Societies issued a letter confirming that he is still the MyPPP president a day earlier.

Asked if Kayveas’ stand is representive of the party, Raja Segaran declined to comment.

“All I can say is that here in Penang, we support Maglin and the party’s supreme council members.

“I have nothing to say about Kayveas except that the earlier announcement on MyPPP leaving BN is fake and irrelevant.

“Our stand is very clear that we want to remain in BN.” he added.
