BANGI: MCA has been reminded to be more creative in launching their manifesto for the Balakong by-election.
Pakatan Haparan (PH) Balakong by-election candidate Wong Siew Ki has reprimanded MCA candidate Tan Chee Teong for allegedly “stealing” PH’s manifesto.
“Yesterday he went inspect the irrigation system and claimed that there will be upgrades to the drainage infrastructure apart from abolishing tolls if he was given the mandate as the Balakong assemblyman.
“MCA, please be more creative and don’t steal what is ours.
“Abolishing the toll stage by stage is PH’s manifesto, it is not MCA’s manifesto. PH, becoming the new government is working hard to make sure that every infrastructure problem is settled,” she said when met during the PH’s campaigning programme at the market here today.
She was accompanied by DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.
“If they want to see changes in their area and fight for their rights, I am the suitable candidate.
“PH’s winning in Balakong will ease the collaboration between the Selangor government and the Federal Government in bringing changes in the constituency.
“Feedback and response from the voters in this constituency has shown a positive sign for PH although our main concern is the voter turnout on Sept 8, it may not meet our expectation.
“We are working very hard for the people as we want to have at least 75 to 80 per cent voter turnout and we also want to maintain the majority votes,” she said.
Although the Election Commission (EC) has announced a 75 to 80 per cent voter turnout, similar to the by-election in Sungai Kandis, she said PH is expecting only 50 per cent will make it to the polls on Sept 8.
“Although there is no Umno candidate for this by-election, it is obvious that there are Umno sentiments and plans here.
“I hope that voters in this constituency come out and vote and show solidarity with PH through their votes next month,” she added.
