SHAH ALAM: A Pakatan Harapan leader today slammed MCA candidate Tan Chee Teong for ridiculing the drop in the number of questions submitted to the state legislative assembly.
Balakong by-election operations chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah said Tan has failed to understand the role of an assemblyman and issues faced by each constituency.
“It is clear that Tan does not understand the role of an assemblyman. Each constituency differs in terms of arising issues.
"If there are a lot of problems, there will be more questions. Each sitting is different." he said.
Ean Yong said Tan should have done his own research on the matter first before making such baseless claims.
“Also, there are other platforms where an assemblyman can raise an issue with the state government. It can be done through debates, committees, service centres or during the meet-the-people sessions.
“This shows the quality of MCA candidate. So, Balakong voters should not waste their votes on a candidate like this, who is immature and insincere,” said Ean Yong in a press conference at the annexe building of the Selangor state legislative assembly building.
Tan had reportedly said that PH assemblymen in Selangor have neglected their responsibility by failing to submit questions to the state legislative assembly.
He claimed the drop in the number of questions was due to the assemblymen having missed the deadline as they were inexperienced.
Oriental Daily had reported that the state assembly had received a total of 420 questions compared to more than 700 in the previous sitting.
