Amanah hopes to be given opportunityto play a role in GLC's

SANDAKAN: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has expressed hope that the party would be given opportunity to play a role in Government-Linked Companies (GLC) in the Pakatan Harapan government, particularly in Sabah.

Its president Mohamad Sabu, said there was a growing response towards the party at the national and state level, especially after the 14th General Election.

“Therefore, Amanah hopes the party leadership can play a role in the government especially in Sabah. The party hopes to be given a suitable place (within the relevant government agency),” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after launching Sabah Amanah Convention here, today.

Also present were Sabah Amanah chairman Haris Alimuddin; State Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister and Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt; and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Arifin Asgali.

Earlier, in his speech, Mohamad who is also the defence Minister said he was confident that PH would be able to win the by-election for Rantau state seat and Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

He, however said, the PH needed to explain the people on each of the manifesto and measures taken by the government, adding he believes the people will accept PH based on its previous winning performance.

“ We must explain to them our manifesto, which can be implemented in 100 days, in a year, and in five years.

“Insya-Allah, the people will accept. Even if they are angry, they can accept rakyat,” he said.

Meanwhile, Haris hoped the role of Amanah members and leadership could be maximised within the federal government agency in the state.

He noted that under the previous government policy, Sabah representatives, who represented their party, were appointed as board of director members in agencies such as Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority, Fisheries Development Authority, and Farmers’ Organisation Authority.

“We hope this policy be continued to ensure the role of Sabah people in the federal agency does not dwindle,” he said.
