KUALA LUMPUR: A former Johor DAP leader has lambasted Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) over its plan to continue championing race-based agenda.
Former Johor DAP chairman, Dr Boo Cheng Hau, said Bersatu resurrected “a failed regime” and “medicinal remedy” inherited from Umno, which is against Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) aspiration to create a New Malaysia.
Dr Boo, who is also the former Skudai assemblyman, said it is unconstitutional to classify Malaysians and reduced the society into ‘Bumiputera’ versus ‘non-Bumiputera’ situation.
“It is utterly racist to unconstitutionally segregate Malaysians according to their ancestral origin, race and religion,” he said in a statement, which was posted on his personal Facebook account yesterday.
The statement was accompanied with a report by an online news portal quoting Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on the implementation of the new Bumiputera agenda as the core policy of the PH administration.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Home Minister, was quoted in the report as saying that the new policy would not restrict opportunities for other ethnic groups to progress and succeed.
Dr Boo also urged Bersatu and Umno to learn from the all-White National Party, which had denounced White Supremacy agenda.
“Ask how Capetown Malays feel now as equal South African citizens as compared to non-white Bumiputeras during the Apartheid era.
“Indonesia has done likewise to eliminate the classification of Pribumi and non-Pribumi.
“More importantly, it is against the PH inspirations to create New Malaysia.”
