66th Pas Muktamar: We are ready for GE15

KOTA BARU: Pas is ready to face the 15th general election (GE15) which could be held at any time, said its president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He said the party leadership at all levels has instructed the machinery to be prepared.

However, he said the number of seats to be contested by the party has yet to be finalised, and the matter will be announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when ready.

Hadi said this during a media conference after delivering his keynote address at the 66th Pas Muktamar (general assembly) here today.

Also present were Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and its secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.

On Muafakat Nasional (MN), he said although it is still in its early stage, he is satisfied with the alliance between Pas and Umno.

"But there is a lot more that needs to be strengthened," he added.

On another development, Abdul Hadi said Pas will mobilise its machinery to help its allies in Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Sabah state election.

The 16th Sabah state election is set for Sept 26, with 73 state seats being contested.

Nomination day was yesterday and early voting will be on Sept 22.
