KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council has agreed with the effort to form a new government after the pact's chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, claimed to have the support of a majority of federal lawmakers.
The council reached an agreement on the matter in a meeting, chaired by the Port Dickson Member of Parliament on Monday night.
The meeting also discussed the outcome of the 16th Sabah State Election.
The council stressed that effort to restore the people's mandate requires commitment to uphold justice, eradicate corrupt practices and improve institutions, including the judiciary.
"Pakatan Harapan also prays that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong recovers from any health related problems and remains under divine protection," said the statement issued by the respective party's secretary-general's in PH, today.
The statement was issued by PKR secretary-general, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution; Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) secretary-general, Datuk Dr Hatta Ramli and DAP's National Organising Secretary, Anthony Loke.
Last Thursday, Anwar claimed to have a "strong, formidable majority" to form a new Federal Government.
However, the Parliamentary Opposition leader declined to reveal the details until he had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
In a press conference at the Le Meridien hotel, here, he also claimed that with the majority of federal lawmakers backing him, the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had fallen.
