Umno to hold virtual Supreme Council Meeting this Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will hold its Supreme Council meeting this Saturday, and is expected to discuss the decisions made during the political bureau meeting on Tuesday.

Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, who confirmed this to NSTP, said the meeting would be held virtually following the Covid-19 outbreak.

"Yes, the Umno Supreme Council meeting will meet on Oct 17, not this evening. We will hold our meeting online.

"One of the things that we will touch on is the outcome of the party's political bureau meeting on Tuesday," he told Berita Harian today.

Tajuddin however said he did not know if a meeting would be held among state and division party leaders following the Supreme Council meeting.

Another Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim also confirmed the matter, adding that the party leadership would focus on current political issues.

"We will not be discussing Umno's problems, but focusing more on the current political landscape, including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's claims that he commands the majority support of Parliamentarians," he said.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the Umno headquarters confirmed that no meeting would be held today.

"There will be no Supreme Council meeting today, it will be on Saturday," the spokesperson said without revealing the main agenda of the meeting.
