IPOH: The appointment of Perak Pas assemblymen as state executive councillors (exco) will only be approved and decided on by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said he needs to draft the list of proposed exco members and submit the names to the Sultan of Perak – and the final decision lies with Sultan Nazrin.
"God wiling ... another five excos will be appointed soon, but we need to remember that the Menteri Besar can only suggest the names, but the right to approve and appoint them can be made by Sultan Nazrin only," he said.
Saarani said this during a press conference after clocking in for his first day as Perak Menteri Besar at the Menteri Besar's office in Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.
The Kota Tampan assemblyman was commenting on Perak Pas commissioner Razman Zakaria's statement yesterday that he is confident that Saarani would not leave Pas out.
Razman said, however, that Pas would accept whatever decision is made, even if they are left out of the new lineup.
Yesterday, five assemblymen took their oaths of office as exco members before Sultan Nazrin at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
They were Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu); and four Umno members: Lintang assemblyman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun; Rungkup assemblyman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya; Kampung Gajah assemblyman Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin; and Bota assemblyman Khairul Shahril Mohamed.
