Ismail Sabri presents names of BN MPs who support Muhyiddin [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Several members of Parliament from Barisan Nasional (BN) have pledged their support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to continue helming the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a press conference today, also revealed the names of the MPs.

He stressed that the BN parliamentarians were prioritising their responsibilities to the people and the country during this pandemic.

He said, the legitimacy of the government should only be determined in the Dewan Rakyat since Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has agreed for Muhyiddin's support to be tested in Parliament in September.

"The King's decision clearly shows the palace will no longer accept letters or statutory declarations from political parties.

"So, there is no question of MPs committing 'treason' (because of this decision). In fact, those who go against His Majesty's wishes are the 'treasonous' ones.

"Moreover, the decision made by Umno's supreme council (to withdraw its support for Muhyiddin) has not been brought to the BN Supreme Council yet," he told reporters, here, today.

Among the Umno MPs seen standing with Ismail Sabri at the press conference were Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (Padang Rengas), Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (Pasir Salak) and Tan Sri Annuar Musa (Ketereh).

The press conference was also attended by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and MIC vice-president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

Wee said, MCA would stand by Muhyiddin's administration based on the party's political bureau's decision to adopt the consensus reached by BN in 2020.

Saravanan said, MIC also echoed a similar stance and said Umno's withdrawal of support for Muhyiddin has triggered confusion among the public.
