KUALA LUMPUR: Pandan Umno Youth has expressed regret over how Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was poorly treated by Barisan Nasional supporters in Johor Baru yesterday.
Pandan Umno Youth chief Mohd Neezam Abdul Aziz said their behaviour towards Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, went against their party culture.
It was reported that a crowd of BN supporters had shouted for the parliament to be dissolved, upon Ismail Sabri's arrival at the Johor Umno headquarters hall, following the coalition's win in Johor.
Mohd Neezam said the incident had slightly marred BN's victory in the just concluded Johor state election.
"The act of some BN supporters towards Ismail Sabri during his arrival was uncivilised.
"This clearly clashes with Umno's culture. This sacred party was built on respect and loyalty for its leaders.
"Never ever try to put in disarray the party's harmony with uncivilised culture," he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Mohd Neezam congratulated BN for its huge win and hoped that all elected representatives would discharge their duties as mandated by the people.
He also said while the grassroots' views were important, any decision on the 15th General Election should solely be made by the party's top leaders, including Ismail Sabri, and with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"Respect the roles of the top leaders as well as decisions in any issue.
"Umno upholds the principle of democracy and also takes into consideration the voice of the grassroot before making a decision.
"Therefore, use the right channel to air your opinions," he said.
