KUALA LUMPUR: In his winding up speech at the 2021 Umno general assembly today, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob assured that voices and views of the party will be given priority in any decision made by the Cabinet under his administration.
The prime minister, who is also the Umno vice-president, said this is to protect the wellbeing of the people.
"I respect (the party). My blood is Umno's blood. My struggles are for Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN)," said Ismail Sabri to resounding applause from delegates attending the assembly.
He said his loyalty towards the party and coalition was reflected when the government fulfilled all six decisions made by the Umno supreme council on Aug 27 last year.
Among them included entering bipartisan cooperation with the opposition through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Transformation and Political Stability as decreed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Other matters decided by the party's supreme council, which have been implemented by the government under his leadership, included focusing on the battle to stop the spread of Covid-19 and vaccinating a majority of the population against the virus.
"I have also rebranded the government into the Keluarga Malaysia administration that outlines three main thrusts which is inclusivity, togetherness and gratitude," he said.
Apart from that, Ismail Sabri said the government under his leadership also set up three committees including one to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
"The special committee (to investigate Adib's case) is expected to table an interim report before the end of this month.
"Although the investigation is still on-going, the government has paid ex-gratia totalling RM1.5 million to the family of the late firefighter on Nov 19 last year," he said.
