PUTRAJAYA: Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa everyone had the right to make their own decisions in politics
Commenting on the resignation of Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin both as plantation industries and commodities minister and from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, he said everyone has their reasons and their decisions needed to be respected.
"It is an individual's right and internal affairs of another party. But from what I know, Zuraida is an active member in Cabinet and very successful in managing her ministerial matters," he said.
Zuraida announced earlier today she was leaving Bersatu and joining Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM).
Annuar said Zuraida's decision to leave Bersatu was an internal matter and must be respected.
Zuraida is also expected to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob soon to discuss her resignation from her cabinet position.
"Although we are from a different political party, they are our partners in this government. She is someone who has a very good performance record," he said.
Annuar stated that the situation does not have any correlation with party hopping.
"This an important decision made by someone along her political journey. If someone decides to change their political course, it will still be done whether it involves the Anti-Party Hopping Bill or not."
Annuar explained that in the bill, it is only suggested that if someone changes party, they need to vacate their seat that they have won under the party flag.
"With the general election closing in, everyone has the right to set their political alignments, whether it is in groups of different parties, or individually with their respective party," he told reporters when attending a Hari Raya open house here.
