KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno supreme council has unanimously agreed that it will continue working with Pas for the benefit of the ummah.
Supreme council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said the negotiation with Pas for the purpose would be led by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"We will (then) review the outcome of the discussions with Pas," he told reporters after the supreme council meeting at World Trade Centre, here, tonight.
Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin when asked on the matter also said: "The president informed in the meeting earlier that he had met with (Pas president Tan Sri Abdul) Hadi Awang."
Meanwhile, Zahidi said during the meeting Zahid had also urged Umno members to remain united.
"He wanted us to be in Gear 5 (for general election) as Parliament will be dissolved soon.
"He also reminded everyone to be together, not condemn the party or say anything that would split the members.
"Action will be taken against those who fail to comply with this," he said.
Two other Umno meetings were held earlier today namely the party's political bureau and the meeting involving the Umno top five.
The "Top Five" refers to Zahid, his deputy Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and the party's three vice-presidents.
They are the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
