KUALA LUMPUR: A man has claimed that he was being threatened by several individuals after exposing prostitution activities involving an Indonesian woman at a spa in Johor last July.
Malay daily Kosmo! reported that the man, who only wanted to be known as Rahman, was approached by two individuals who warned him not to expose the activity, believed to have links to human trafficking.
"Last October, I was approached by two unknown men claiming to represent the spa, asking me to reveal the identity of the person who instructed me to file the report.
"They came to my office but I told them that I did not receive any instructions from anyone and that I only did that because of Allah.
"I also don't know what happened to the woman," he said as quoted in the report.
The 40-year-old revealed this at a press conference at the Malaysian International Humanitarian Organisation yesterday.
Rahman said he was worried for his safety after both men claimed to have his house address and a picture of him lodging a police report.
The man added that he visited the spa on July 16 to get a massage after a tiring day at work.
"I was told to choose a woman by the premises caretaker and I assumed it referred to a masseuse, so I requested an Indonesian worker.
"That was when I met the woman in question, and she looked exhausted, so I asked about her condition.
"She then pleaded for help, claiming she could no longer endure being forced into prostitution. She said she was scared because some workers who had tried to escape before were caught and beaten.
"I was shocked to hear the woman's confession and never expected the premises to offer prostitution services," he added.
