KAJANG: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has a track record of making U-turn decisions, so it is not surprising if PH-led state governments dissolve their respective state legislative assemblies to make way for the 15th General Election (GE15), said MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong today.
"Just a few days ago , they were the ones who said no (to hold elections concurrently), but if they make a sudden U-turn, I wouldn't be surprised. They have this track record (of policy U-turns) after the 2018 GE," he said after officiating at the 3rd Symposium of Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (SRIE 2022).
Last week, the PH presidential council issued a statement that it will not dissolve the state assemblies in Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan even though Parliament had been dissolved.
The Selangor government, with the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, will not dissolve the state legislative assembly while Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has confirmed that the state will not be holding its elections this year.
Penang DAP has asked the party to review its decision not to dissolve the Penang assembly as sentiment on the ground was in favour of having both state and parliament elections together.
Said Wee: "The ball is in their court, so they should decide now…"
