[LIVE] Zahid launches BN election manifesto

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today launched the coalition's manifesto for the 15th General Election.

Titled "Perancangan Amal and Usaha BN untuk Malaysia" (Padu), Zahid said the manifesto outlined two main strategies to prosper the country for the wellbeing of the people.

"Firstly, we want to create political stability by forming a strong government.

"Secondly, we aim to manage Malaysia for the country's wellbeing and prosperity," he said.

BN manifesto, which Zahid described as "a new and fresh deal" outlined 99 efforts by the coalition to lead and develop the country.


FOCUS 1:

- Promise of assistive income to households with less than RM2208 will get automatic cash assistance

- Those in M40 group and in the RM50,000 to RM100,000 income bracket to get two per cent tax relief

- Tax free incentives for five years to encourage women to return to the work force

FOCUS 2:

- Free early education and day care

- 100 per cent internet coverage in all schools

- No text-book education system with laptops supplied

- B40 students to receive free higher education

- Institutions of higher learning to offer hybrid learning

- Students undergoing internship will be paid for their services
