GE15: If PN wins, Malaysia could end up being a Taliban state, warns Nga [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP vice chairman Nga Kor Ming warned voters not to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) because Pas is part of the coalition and it could lead to unfavourable policies being mooted by the Islamist party.

Nga pointed out that Malaysia could end up like Afghanistan with a Taliban government calling the shots if PN were to win the coming General Election (GE15).

He said that Pas would try to implement what he termed as extremist policies touching on alcohol, gambling, concerts and even gender segregation, which could upset the secular values of a multiracial society in this country, he was quoted as saying by a local news portal.

Nga believes that the policies that Pas would try to enforce will compromise the rights of non-Muslims and could drive away foreign investors which would end up ruining the country.

This is not the first time that Nga has issued such a warning as back in early 2019, he had said at the time that Malaysia could end up being a 'Taliban state' if an Umno-Pas coalition became a reality.

The Taliban are a Sunni Islamist Nationalist and pro-Pashtun movement founded in the early 1990s which ruled Afghanistan from 1996 till 2001 and once again from the end of last year until today, enforcing their own version of Shariah Islamic Law.

Nga has called on voters not to support PN so that human rights and freedom of speech will not end up being compromised or impeded.

He pointed out that if PN wins the general election, then the earlier announcement that Pas would form the state government's for Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis and Pahang will be a reality.

"What is even worse is Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang could end up succeeding PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and become prime minister," he said.
