Malaysia's 15th General Election: Live updates

The 15th General Election takes place today, over a month after caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob dissolved Parliament to pave the way for GE15. Barisan Nasional, the country's longest-serving coalition, is hoping for a second surprise victory after losing in 2018.

Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, however, is confident of winning a simple majority to form the government, while Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is aiming for a surprise win.

9:23pm: PH leaders arrive at viewing event

Several Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders have arrived at the coalition's election result viewing event at the Dorsett Grand Subang Hotel, here tonight.

Among the first to arrive were DAP secretary-general, Anthony Loke Siew Fook and MUDA president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

9:17pm: (Unofficial) Pejuang leaders trailing

Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) big wigs are trailing in their respective constituencies in 15th General Election (GE15).


9:12pm: Several unofficial results announced as vote count keeps voters on their toes

Votes for the 220 parliamentary seats are in the midst of being tabulated, with Sabah and Sarawak leading the unofficial count after polling centres in both East Malaysian states closed earlier at 5.30 pm.


9:08pm: Loke confident of PH's prospects

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is optimistic it will do well in the 15th General Election as early results trickle in.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke briefly replied, "good", when asked about the coalition's prospects as he entered a hall at Dorsett Grand Subang Hotel here.


8:54pm: Two Orang Asli women walk 15km to cast their ballots

The Orang Asli community was determined to cast their ballots in the 15th general election today.

Two Orang Asli women of the Temiar tribe chose to walk 15 kilometres (km) to the polling station at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Betis here.


8:49pm: Victory parades not allowed, say Labuan police

Police have issued a warning that stern action will be taken against anyone who organises or participates in any parade to celebrate their winning candidate in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Labuan police chief Superintendent Ahmad Jawila said the decision was made in the interest of public safety.


8:31pm: Couple on the way to polling centre killed in crash, daughter injured

A man and his wife died, while their three-year-old daughter sustained injuries when the car they were travelling in to go to the polls today, met with an accident at KM46 of Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing here today.


8:22pm: 76.24 per cent of voters in Pandan came out to vote

Approximately 76.24 per cent of 148,120 voters for the Parliamentary constituency of Pandan came out to vote during the 15th General Election (GE-15) here earlier today.

Election Commission (EC) officer-in-charge for the constituency Julaiha Jamaludin said that the percentage was obtained from all 37 polling centres with a total of 248 voting lanes up to 6pm.


7:58pm: All quiet at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur so far

No Barisan Nasional big wigs are seen at the World Trade Centre here despite the huge presence of journalists at its foyer.

Several chairs however were seen arranged at the Tun Hussein Onn Hall before a huge screen displaying the 15th General Election's unofficial results.

7:31pm: Sarawak GPS leading in 12 parliamentary seats

Sarawak-based ruling coalition, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), is now leading with 10 from 31 parliamentary seats contested in the state, according to the latest unofficial result.

Based on infographics posted on the Sarawak Public Communications Unit's (Ukas) Facebook page, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) together with GPS's three component parties are leading in Santubong, Serian, Batang Sadong, Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Selangau and Hulu Rejang.


7:27pm: EC staff dies while on duty in Klang

An Election Commission staff died while on duty at Sekolah ACS Methodist Jalan Raya Barat polling station, this afternoon.

Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said the 45-year-old was found unconscious on his assigned buggy at the voting centre.


7:18pm: Senior citizens follow SOP strictly at polling centres

Senior citizens are not taking chances with their health when voting in the 15th General Election today.

They are masking up throughout the voting process to protect themselves against Covid-19 at polling centres.


6:53pm: Police deny power trip at SJKC Kepong polling centre

Police denied there was a power trip this morning during the 15th General Election (GE15) voting process at the polling station at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) in Kepong.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said only a generator at the polling station was damaged.


6:32pm: Voters names mysteriously missing from manual registration, claims PH's Ganabatirau

Klang Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate V. Ganabatirau has alleged that the names of some of the constituency's voters had mysteriously gone missing from the manual registration, while one had been crossed out at his dedicated polling station.


6:30pm: Young voters want new government to focus on improving employment prospects

Hopeful youths who cast their votes in Sungai Buloh today want the new government to look into issues such as employment and salary increase


6:29pm: It's a wrap!

Malaysians are done voting and are now waiting to see if their chosen candidate won the contest in their constituencies.

6:09pm: He looked really tired after campaigning last night, says late Tioman candidate's son

Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Tioman state seat Md Yunus Ramli, 61, who died this morning, looked rather tired when he returned home after a campaign round in Sungai Puteri last night.

His son, Khairyel Harith, 28, said his father was very dedicated to his electoral campaign for the 15th General Election even though he had complained of fatigue due to his busy schedule.

The Election Commission (EC) announced a 70 per cent voter turnout as of 4pm today.


6:01pm: BN leadership confident of emerging victorious in GE15, says former Ketereh MP Annuar

Former Ketereh member of parliament Tan Sri Annuar Musa has revealed that Barisan Nasional's (BN) top leadership are confident that they will emerge victorious in the General Election (GE15) by winning most of the seats that the coalition is contesting for, and will therefore be able to form the new government.

5:28pm: Voting in Baram suspended due to bad weather

Bad weather has forced suspension of polls at 11 polling stations in the Baram federal constituency, in Miri, Sarawak.

The suspension involved a total of 18 streams.

5:26pm: Chaos ensues as polling centres closed early

Three videos have gone viral showing disgruntled voters when they were not allowed to enter a polling centre at Balai Raya Kampung Melang, here, which was closed as early as 2pm.


5:23pm: Elderly voter lodges police report after someone else uses her identity to cast ballot

An elderly voter has lodged a police report after discovering that her identity was used to cast a ballot for the 15th General Election (GE15) at the Kota Sarang Semut polling centre.

Housewife Zaleha Abdul Rahman, 75, from Kampung Buluh Lima, Simpang Empat, said she was upset as she was looking forward to exercising her democratic rights like in the previous general elections.

Another possible case of a candidate violating Election Commission (EC) rules has emerged with Datuk Seri Ahmad Said seen wearing a shirt with the Barisan Nasional (BN) logo while casting his ballot today.


5:10pm: Woman 'registered' as postal voter, denied vote in KL

A voter had the shock of her life today when she was not allowed to vote as her name was allegedly registered as a postal voter.

Aisha Adam, 36, then decided to remain at the polling station to protest the incident.

It was learnt that she has been at the polling centre in SK Taman Setiawangsa for the past six hours.


5:08pm: Man who raised flag during Merdeka 1957 event votes for the 14th time

One of the three individuals who raised the Malaysian flag during the country's independence on 31 August 1957 at the Merdeka Stadium, Lieutenant Commander (Rtd) Mohamed Sharif Kalam, 86, has never failed to fulfill his responsibility as a Malaysian in every general election (GE).


5:08pm: Man, 74, pushes wheelchair cart to polling centre
Joshua Kong, 74, pushes his wheelchair cart every day to collect dog food from a bakery and seafood restaurant.

Today, Kong stopped at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Gaya in Luyang here to vote in the 15th General Election at 1.30pm.


4:55pm: Two voters die in JB

An 85-year-old woman died while waiting for her turn to cast her vote at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Lit Terk in Paloh today.

Another voter Sh Juhara Syed Mohamad, 57, who was feeling unwell, died today. She had just cast her vote for the Pulai parliament seat at Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Ismail when she collapsed about 9.30am today.


4:51pm: Family of five brave through stagnant floodwaters to vote

Young voter Nur Shafika Rosmadi, 18, along with four family members had to wade through 500 metres of stagnant floodwaters using a boat to fulfil their responsibility as voters in the 15th General Election (GE15).

She was joined by her 70-year-old grandmother, her 49-year-old father, who suffered from a stroke, her mother and her brother.


4:51pm: Footballer Sergio Aguero casts his ballot in Indera Mahkota

Sri Pahang FC footballer Sergio Aguero today joined hundreds of voters at the SK Semambu polling centre here to exercise his rights as a Malaysian citizen in the 15th general election.


4:42pm: Tengku Puteri Zainah sets foot in Pekan for the first time in 30 years to support son Nizar Najib

Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar, the mother of Barisan Nasional's Peramu Jaya state seat candidate, Datuk Mohd Nizar Najib, today set foot in Pekan for the first time in 30 years.


4:24pm: Vote first, then mad rush to the airport

He only had a few hours before flying out of the country to perform the umrah but A Rani Mamat still managed to fulfill his responsibility as a voter in the 15th General Election.

Rani, 57, was the second person after candidate Datuk Rosol Wahid to cast the vote at the at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Diman at 8.05am yesterday. He then rushed to the Sultan Mahmud Airport for a flight to the KL International Airport before joining the other pilgrims on the package to the holy land later in the afternoon.


4:11pm: Kedah media club disappointed with EC staff for denying coverage at polling centre

Kedah media troop has expressed disappointment with an Election Commission (EC) staff for preventing media representatives from covering the 15th General Election (GE15) voting process at SK Titi Gajah this morning.

Kedah Elite Media Club's (KMEK) Kumaran Rajamoney said the officer concerned had even pulled the EC's media tag worn by the media reps and took pictures of the passes without their permission.


4:06pm: Half of voters turn up to vote as of 1pm

The Election Commission (EC) has revealed that about half of the number of eligible voters have fulfilled their right and responsibility in casting their ballots as of 1pm today.

This translates into more than 10.6 million voters, as the polls are scheduled to draw to a close by 6.00pm in Peninsula Malaysia and 5.30pm for Sabah and Sarawak.


3:58pm: Bride in Chinese wedding dress awes voters

The sight of a bride wearing a striking two-piece kua, a traditional Chinese wedding dress, added colour to the voting process at SAMT Sultan Hisamuddin polling centre.

Bride Bailey Chong Jia Yee and her groom, Chong Elun, both 27, had just finished their wedding ritual, including the customary tea ceremony, before they arrived at the polling centre.


3:56pm: Widow of ex-MB Terengganu voting in ambulance

Fatimah Ismail, 95, voted in an ambulance at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Rusila here today, reflecting her persistence to fulfill her responsiblity to choose the leadership of the country.

More interesting, Fatimah who is called Mok Su, is the widow of the late Terengganu Chief Minister Mohd Daud Abdul Samad, who served from 1959 to 1961.


3:50pm: Ahmad Zahid pleads with voters to go out and vote

Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has made a plea to the people to go out and exercise their right to vote today.

Ahmad Zahid, who is the BN candidate for Bagan Datuk, said that a stable government can be formed after the General Election (GE-15) with an absolute mandate from the people.

Ahmad Zahid said that voters who turn out today will help to determine the future of the country for the next five years.


3:47pm: Newlyweds who skip wedding feast and 95-year-old ex-air force officer cast their votes in Tasek Gelugor

A newlywed couple from Tasek Gelugor here enthusiastically cast their votes after their solemnisation ceremony at a hotel here today.

Amirul Ahmad Annuar and his wife Nurul Izza Soaid, both 31, queued separately for almost an hour at SMK Pokok Sena at noon to cast their ballots for the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency.

Amirul, a teacher, did not expect polling day to fall on the same day of his solemnisation day since he had fixed the date way before.


3:47pm: Lipis centenarian never missed voting since 1955
entenarian Mat Ariffin Mat Deris has never missed a single general election in exercising his democratic rights.

Walking with the support of a stick, the 111-year-old today turned up at SK Kerambit polling centre in Benta near here to cast his vote in the 15th general election.


3:43pm: 58pc of Malaysians have cast their vote as of 2pm

More than half the population of Malaysian voters have cast their vote for the 15th General Election (GE15) as of 2pm today.

As per statistics shared by the Election Commission on social media, voter turnout stood at 58 per cent as of 2pm.

There are less than three hours left before the opportunity for 21 million voters to cast their vote ends.


3:43pm: Voters in Limbang, Baram brave floods to cast ballots

Voters at four polling centres in Limbang and Baram have to brave floodwaters to cast their ballots in the 15th General Election (GE15) today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said the affected polling centres were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Telahak and SK Meritam in Limbang; as well as SK Dato Sarif, Kampung Narum, Marudi and SK Long Bemang in Baram.


3:42pm: Deaths and disruption during polling

A mentally unstable man caused chaos by grabbing an ink bottle and shoving a ballot box at Pusat Daerah Mengundi (PDM), Ulu Yam, Hulu Selangor, today.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the 27-year-old man was said to have grabbed the ink bottle from the officer on duty and pushed the ballot box until it fell.

3:35pm: Voters made to wait for hours at Kota Damansara polling centres

Voters in Kota Damansara had to wait up to five hours to cast their votes.

Pakatan Harapan candidate for Sg Buloh, Datuk R.Ramanan, who was fuming over the delay, said he received numerous complaints from his supporters at SMK Seksyen 6 and SMK Seksyen 8, Kota Damansara.


3:35pm: No untoward incidents reported on polling day thus far- IGP

No untoward incidents have been reported on polling day for the 15th General Election (GE15), said Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

"Thus far, the voting process is under control," he told reporters while inspecting the polling station at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kertas, Batu Caves here today.

3:21pm: Ignore news about voters not allowed from using shorts, slippers - EC

The Election Commission (EC) has reminded voters for the 15th general election (GE15) not to believe information published on the polling day dress code that will not allow those wearing shorts and slippers to enter the polling station.

Its deputy chairman, Dr Azmi Sharom said voters need not worry because the viral news on the clothing dos and don'ts is fake news.


3:20pm: Voter willing to spend RM40,000 to fly home from Saudi Arabia to vote

Realising his civic duty to vote as a Malaysian, a voter was willing to spend RM40,000 to return to his hometown in Johor for the 15th General Election (GE15) today.

Datuk Radzi Mansor, 40, a chief executive officer (CEO) of a travel agency in Saudi Arabia, returned to his home in Jalan Ibrahim here from Saudi Arabia with his father Mansor Salim, 76, on Oct 30.


3:01pm: Nonagenarian has voted more than 12 times in her life

"As I could remember, I have voted more than 12 times, but this 15th General Election (GE15) seems different from others.

"As this is my responsibility, I gathered my strength to come and vote to choose a leader," said senior citizen Semek Said, 93, when at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Nilam here today.

Semek, who has 112 grandchildren and great grandchildren from her eight children, said that in the past, voting did not require the need to dip her finger into the ink.


2:50pm: Sabah PN sole candidate urges voters to fulfil responsibility

Incumbent Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee urged voters to follow the rules to ensure the 15th General Election (GE) runs smoothly.

Kiandee, the only Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate in Sabah, cast his vote at SK Pekan Beluran. He was seen lining up together with other voters.


2:25pm: Recovering from knee surgery, Azrizan still went out to vote

Despite having had knee surgery just four days ago, Mohd Azrizan Rahman, 27, still came out to vote at Sekolah Kebangsan Taman Muda.

Mohd Azrizan, who had an accident in January 2018, underwent surgery recently to remove a screw that was inserted to address his prolonged knee pain.

Using a walking stick to assist him, he arrived at the voting station with his friend. He chose not to use a wheelchair as he could still walk using the stick.


2:24pm: Wedding venue become polling centre, couple forced to make last minute switch

A couple who solemnised their marriage at 10 am today are excited to share their wedding day with the voting day of the 15th General Election.

Amiera Nabila Mohd Shahrin, 28, said although the solemnisation ceremony went smoothly, they had to find a new venue for the wedding ceremony as Dewan Kampung Melayu in Kampung Melayu Majidee here, where the ceremony was supposed to be held, was chosen as a polling centre.


2:23pm: Smooth polling process in Baram, say Sarawak cops

The voting process for the 15th General Election (GE15) in the flood-affected areas in the Baram parliamentary constituency went according to schedule, with changes made to the venues of some polling stations.

Sarawak police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Azman Ahmad Sapri said that based on a report by Marudi district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib, the police were working with the Election Commission (EC) to ensure smooth polling in the area.


2:18pm: Floods do not deter voters in Sarawak

Voters in the interior of northern Sarawak have been braving the floods to exercise their responsibilities as citizens.

Until noon today, four polling centres in northern Sarawak have reportedly been hit by floods, and voters made their way by boat to the centres.


2:14pm: Johari calls for Titiwangsa constituents to come out to vote

As of 1.30pm, turnout rate in Titiwangsa is slightly lower than previous general election.

Barisan Nasional Titiwangsa candidate Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said turnout stood at 40 per cent at 1.30pm.


2:08pm: Bersih wants Hadi to be probed for wearing party logo to vote

Bersih has called on authorities to investigate Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Abdul Hadi Awang for wearing a vest bearing the party logo while voting today.

A Twitter user posted a picture of Hadi casting his ballot at a polling station wearing a green vest bearing the Pas logo.

"This is clearly an election offence, to wear any apparel or clothing with a party symbol or logo into a polling centre," FMT quoted Bersih chairman Thomas Fann as saying.


1:56pm: Couple in wedding outfits turns heads at polling centre

The presence of Lee Choy Yoong and her groom Jackie Har, 30, both 30, at the SK Taman Muda polling centre turned heads as they arrived in their wedding outfits.

The couple arrived at the polling centre after the tea drinking ceremony at the bride's house.

Lee said she woke up at 5.30 am to prepare for the wedding ceremony as well as to vote in the afternoon.


1:28pm: KJ urges voters to come out, rain or shine

Barisan Nasional candidate Khairy Jamaluddin called to the people of Sungai Buloh to come out and vote.

"I know that it rained this morning and now it's scorching hot. I understand that the queues are long and people might have to wait for hours in line, but please come out and vote," he said, urging Sungai Buloh voters.


1:10pm: Tioman election on Dec 7

The election for Tioman state seat has been set for Dec 7.

Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said that this was decided in a special meeting today(Nov 19).

The nomination date has been set for Nov 24 and the early polling is on Dec 3.


12:26pm: Even 'Captain America' casts his ballot

All eyes were on Muhamad Shahrizal Mat Sahat, 35, when he walked into Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Aman in Air Itam here to cast his vote in a Captain America costume.

Not only that, Shahrizal also struck numerous superhero poses.

Shahrizal said he decided to don the costume on polling day to cheer the Election Commission (EC) personnels as well as voters waiting in line to cast their ballots.


12:24pm: Sook voting centre affected by flood

A district polling centre here is affected, following the floods in Sook.

After overnight heavy rain, Sook station chief Razlan Aridy said Sekolah Kebangsaan Rancangan Belia Tiulon cannot be used for voting as the road leading to it is impassable.

"For now, it is not passable and the water is overflowing and it's dangerous. The rain has stopped but the weather now is gloomy," he told the New Straits Times.


12:20pm: EC should find ways to speed up voting process especially for elderly

Election Commission (EC) should find ways to speed up the voting process at Sekolah Kebangsaan St Aloysius Limbanak here.

Incumbent Penampang member of parliament Datuk Darell Leiking said one of the voting channels saw higher turnouts which led to long waiting time for the voters.


12:11pm: Sweet treat for inked voters

The breakfast crowd at Choon Guan coffee shop were in for a surprise when those who had voted in the 15th General Election were treated to a free serving of custard pudding.

The owner of Choon Guan, who declined to be named, said they have so far given away 60 portions of its signature custard pudding since 8am today to those who showed off their "inked" finger.


12:09pm: Kuantan voters excited with unique modes of transportation at polling station

Voters who turned up to cast their ballot papers at SMK Tok Sera polling station near here were treated to a rare experience today.

Besides the buggy services, voters had the opportunity to ride on bicycles, electric scooters (e-scooters) and trishaws which were provided by the Kuantan City Council (MBK).

The 'unique' mode of transportations was an instant hit with the elderly mostly choosing to ride on the buggies, youngsters rode on the scooters while some opted to pedal the trishaws and bicycles.


12:07pm: Rain or shine Malaysians opt to vote

Social media platforms were flooded with pictures and accounts of voters today.

Some had begun queuing outside their polling stations as early as 7am, while others braved the rain, minor crawls and long walks to the stations due to lack of parking.

A Twitter user by the name Kak Mira tweeted: "The ballot is stronger than the bullet.


12:07pm: Zahid, Takiyuddin, Radzi among early voters to cast ballots

As soon as the polling stations opened at 8am today, the contesting candidates, including party leaders, were seen arriving early to fulfil their responsibilities for the 15th General Election.

Some of them were seen in the queue with other voters while waiting for the polling station to open.

Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, arrived at 8.20 am to cast his vote at Madrasah Manbail Ulum in Sungai Nipah Darat, Bagan Datuk, Perak.

At another location, Perikatan Nasional candidate for Putrajaya and Bersatu vice-president, Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, arrived at Al-Najah Religious Primary School, Precinct 9, Putrajaya at 8.20 am to cast his vote.


12:03pm: EC blamed for lack of facilities in Lembah Pantai

Some heads in the Election Commission (EC) must roll, said Lembah Pantai incumbent Fahmi Fadzil, for lack of preparation at several polling centres.
NST checks found that some voters, especially senior citizens, have began queueing to cast their ballots since 8am.
However, some are still waiting in line as at 11.36am, while some polling agents at the venue are seen putting up signages for voting channels, something that should be done before centres were opened.


1:01pm: PN express grief over Yunus death, Pas to identify new candidate

The sudden death of Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Tioman state seat Md Yunus Ramli early today came as a shock to everyone.

Pahang PN chairman Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah described Yunus as a capable and winnable candidate.

"Yunus was considered a well-respected candidate with potential (to win the Tioman state seat) and it is a huge loss to PN," he told reporters after voting at SK Sungai Talam here today.


1:00pm: Bedridden retired teacher, wife arrive by ambulance to vote in Shah Alam polling centre

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad urged the Election Commission (EC) to retain the new ruling banning mobile phones inside polling stations that was introduced in 15th General Election (GE15).

11:17am: Johari Ghani: Titiwangsa campaign healthy, should be the way forward

GE15 campaign in Titiwangsa was healthy and should be the way forward, said Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

"For the past 13 days, I think the campaign in Titiwangsa was very intense but smooth and everyone respected each other," he told reporters after casting his vote at SK Taman Maluri, here, today.


11:14am: Voters turnout nine per cent as of 9am

The voter turnout for 15th General Election (GE15) was at nine per cent as of 9am today, said the Election Commission (EC).

Although voting centres were open from 8am today, people were seen making long beelines to vote as early as 7am.

The voting centres are expected to be closed in stages by 6pm.


11:13am: PH slams EC, website cannot be accessed

Pakatan Harapan (PH) took the Election Commission (EC) to task as its official website 'MySPR' for people to check their voting centres for the 15th General Election (GE15) could not be accessed.

PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the party had received a number of reports that the webpage could not be accessed since last night.

Checks by the New Straits Times as of 10.50am today also showed '502 Bad Gateway'.

Perikatan Nasional's Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar was the last among the three candidate vying for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat to be seen at the SK Seri Anggerik polling centre this morning.

He arrived bout 9am, or 10 minutes after Pakatan Harapan candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail visited the same polling centre.

The two leaders are in a three-cornered fight with Barisan Nasional's Datuk Chew Yin Keen, who arrived at 8am. Chew cast his vote at SK Seri Anggerik, while Kamaruddin and Dr Wan Azizah are not voters in this constituency.


10:31am: Tengku Adnan happy with voter turnout

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has cast his vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan Presint 9 (1) here.

The 72-year-old Umno treasurer-general arrived with his wife Datin Seri Anggraini Sentiyaki and grandson at about 9.20am.


10:29am: Anwar 'cautiously confident' of securing Putrajaya, prime ministership

Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the polling station at SK Seri Penanti to cast his vote.

He arrived at 8.55am and was greeted warmly by voters who also came early to cast their votes.

10:02am: Three sisters excited to vote

Morning rain showers in Seremban did not deter the spirits of this sibling trio casting their ballots for the first time.

Nurhusnairah Mohd Khair, 24, Nurjukhairah Mohd Khair, 22, and Nurrukhairah Mohd Khair, 18 were eager to perform their civic duties for the first time, braving the elements to queue at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Paroi Jaya polling centre.

"We were so eager to reach the polling centre at 8.30am that we forgot to bring our umbrellas. Despite the rain, we just went ahead.

"Some of us even forgot to put our shoes on, only wearing socks with slippers."

9:54am: Klang mum and daughter head to polling station early despite rain

Besides the required MyKad, Klang folks did not forget to bring along their unpredictable weather essentials of caps, umbrellas and raincoats to shield them from the rain at the polling station today.

One of them was P. Parimala who cast her vote at SMK Tengku Ampuan Jemaah with her 57-year-old mother, K. Nilakarivandan.

"It has been raining since midnight but I told my mother that no matter what, we must go early to the polling station to mark our votes."


9:49am: Up to 200m long queues in Sungai Buloh polling centres

Queues at several polling centers in P.107 Sungai Buloh seem to be overwhelming with lines up to 200 metres outside the polling centres. Among those are at Kota Damansara polling centre, Seksyen 7 and Kampung Melayu Subang.

The race for the seat will see a multi-cornered fight. Khairy Jamaluddin from Barisan Nasional is going up against Pakatan Harapan Datuk R. Ramanan from and Perikatan Nasional Mohd Ghazali Md Hamin .


9:36am: Bride hopes to vote cast after wedding

Bride Lauretta Bidi is getting married on polling day, and she is hoping that she will be able to run out of her reception for a while to cast her vote.
The blushing bride is set to vote at Maktab Sabah for the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary seat. Her reception started at about 9am at the St Aloysius Church, which is about 30 minutes away from the polling centre.
9:30am: Mother brings along newborn baby to cast vote

Motherly duties did not interfere with Siti Najuwa Azmi's intention of voting in the 15th General Election today.
Siti, 32, was carrying her newborn baby Amar Merican Muhammad Hamizi Merican, into the polling centre at SK Naka in Padang Terap.
Since her baby still needed to be breastfed, she did not have a choice but to bring her 40-day-old baby with her to the polling centre.
"I want to vote but at the same time, I also need to nurse my baby," she said when met at the polling centre in SK Naka today.

An iconic election ballot box with the Malaysian flag adorns the doodle of Google Malaysia's search engine homepage as the country holds its 15th general election (GE15) today.

9:18am: Dr Wan Azizah receives warm welcome from Bandar Tun Razak constituents
Despite the gloomy weather and drizzle, Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was warmly greeted by the constituents when she stopped by at SK Seri Anggerik for the 15th General Election (GE15).
Dr Wan Azizah arrived at the polling station at about 8.50am.
All eyes were on her and screams of "welcome" and "you are the best" could be heard as she made her way to greet the constituents.
When asked where she would be voting, Dr Wan Azizah briefly said: "I will be voting in Permatang Pauh. I will make my move (insha Allah)."
9:13am: Ahmad Faizal sends condolences to Md Yunus's family

Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu today expressed his condolences for the passing of Tioman state seat candidate, Md Yunus Ramli.
"On behalf of the coalition, I would like to express my condolences to his family. May he be placed among the faithful and righteous.
"Usually when there is a passing of any candidate, the representative of the candidate will take over the seat and we should stick to it at the moment," he said.


9.11am: Johari casts vote at SK Taman Maluri

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Titiwangsa parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has cast his vote at SK Taman Maluri.

He arrived at 8.55am and was greeted by Federal police Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.


9:07am: Azmin Ali arrives at SK Klang Gate to cast his vote

Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Gombak parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali arrived at SK Klang Gate to cast his vote at 8.35am.

Bangi voters turnout early to cast votes

Voters have begun queuing up to cast their ballot papers, even before polling centres opened at 8am in the Bangi Parliamentary constituency.

A check at the SJK (T) Bandar Mahkota Cheras polling centres showed a long snaking queue, as voters arrived early.

Pre-dawn showers did discourage voters, many who came equipped with umbrellas to face any eventuality of an inclement weather.


Malaysians excited to vote

The excitement of Malaysians to elect a government in the 15th General Election (GE15) is clearly seen today with electors arriving at their polling centres early, even before the gates open, despite the rain at some places.

Among the early birds are married couple Marita Talib, 54, and husband, Shahruddin Hussin, 62, who arrived at 6.30 am at Sekolah Kebangsaan Agama Dato Omar Yusuf, in Johor Bahru, even though the polling centres only open at 8 am.
