Syed Saddiq retains Muar in GE15 with much smaller majority

MUAR: Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman polled 19,961 votes in the 15th General Election (GE15) to retain the Muar parliamentary seat he first won in the 2018 polls.

The Muda president saw of his rivals from Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) with a majority of 1,345 votes.

PN was represented by Johor Pas commissioner Abdullah Hussin, who polled 18,616 votes, while Muar Umno youth chief Mohd Helmy Abd Latif of BN garnered 14,581 votes.

The official results were announced by the Election Commission returning officer Datuk Mustaffa Kamal Shamsudin about 10.45pm at the Seri Mahkota Hall at SMK Tengku Mahkota here.

There were 132 ballot boxes received for the Parliamentary constituency of Muar.
