KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Election Commission (EC) has received an application from the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who asked for a vote recount to be carried out for the Gua Musang parliamentary seat.
However, its director Fakhrul Razi Ab Wahab said the EC rejected the application on the grounds that a recount cannot be done at the official tallying centre.
"Recounting can only be done at the channel if the majority obtained by the winner is less than four per cent.
"If the candidate is dissatisfied, he can file an election petition," he said at a press conference at the EC office at Wisma Persekutuan here today.
Tengku Razaleigh, who have held the Gua Musang parliamentary seat for 11 terms, lost to PAS' Mohd Azizi Abu Naim by only 163 votes.
