Khairy: Zahid must resign now as Umno's reform cannot be delayed anymore

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who has said previously he wants to cleanse the party, has told Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign immediately.

He is just the latest in a long line of Barisan Nasional figures and Umno members to have done so following the coalition's worst showing in history during the 15th General Election.

In a Twitter post, he said Zahid must step down from both the Umno presidency and BN chairmanship, adding that this must happen now.

Khairy said Zahid, as the commander-in-chief of BN, must have the dignity to accept responsibility for BN's failure.

"Umno's reform cannot be delayed any longer," he said.

BN won only 30 seats out of the 177 seats it contested.
