Anwar: I still have the numbers

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is adamant that he still has the majority support to form a government following the 15th General Election (GE15).

When met by newsmen outside his residence, he said that this will be conveyed via the submissions of statutory declarations as per the request of Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun, eho had conveyed the wishes of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"We have virtually settled this. As of last night, it is done.

"I am confident that I will be given the chance to lead the country," he said today.

However, he remained coy on which political parties or MPs outside PH had expressed support for him.

He said that the political parties will issue a statement by tonight or tomorrow.

"It needs to be proper, so let them issue their own statement," he added.

Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin had earlier said in a statement today the king was informed that no single party had successfully obtained a simple majority.

He said the king instructed all political party and coalition leaders with a substantial number of seats to inform Istana Negara regarding their coalitions and prime ministerial candidates for a new government by 2pm tomorrow.
