KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has submitted the statutory declarations from members of parliament who are supporting PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the country's next prime minister to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said there were more than 112 statutory declarations submitted.
"The number of statutory declarations exceeded 112, which is the majority needed in order to appoint a prime minister under Article 43 of the Federal Constitution," he said in a statement today.
Istana Negara had previously instructed all political parties to submit their coalition numbers and candidates for the prime minister to the palace before 2pm today.
However, that deadline has since been deferred to 2pm tomorrow, at the request of the political parties.
