IPOH: Perak Perikatan Nasional (PN) says Barisan Nasional's decision to establish a coalition government with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Perak is a recipe for disaster.
Perak PN chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, said the news merely cemented previous rumours that both coalitions would be forming a new alignment just cling to power.
"We also wonder where is the Umno general assembly's stand of "No Anwar, No DAP?" he said in a statement today.
He added that Perak PN remained adamant that it would become the opposition if it couldn't form a state government with any party that was willing to accept the principles of PN's struggle.
"Perak PN will not cooperate with PH, which contains DAP, a party that is rejected by the majority of Malays. We also won't cooperate with those who are tainted with corruption," he said.
Earlier, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah gave his consent to the formation of a coalition government between BN and PH in the state.
State National Council member Tan Sri Annuar Zaini said the Sultan has also consented for BN's Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad to be appointed as the Perak Menteri Besar.
Saarani is set to be sworn in at 5.30pm today.
