KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has reached a unanimous agreement to officially support formation of the Pahang government with Barisan Nasional (BN).
Pahang PH chairman Amirudin Shari said the outcome was reached at a meeting which he chaired today.
He said the decision was based on the total number of State Legislative Assembly seats won by BN (16) and PH (eight), thus exceeding the simple majority.
"We hope that the new Pahang government after GE15 can be formed to ensure that the administration of the state government runs smoothly for the benefit of the people," he said in a statement.
In GE15, Perikatan Nasional (PN) won 17 out of 41 state seats, while BN garnered 16 and PH eight seats.
The Pahang assembly has 42 seats but only 41 were contested in the state election that ran simultaneously with GE15, following the death of Tioman PN candidate Md Yunus Ramli on Nov 19.
The election has been set for Dec 7.
