PUTRAJAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof have been appointed as deputy prime ministers for the country's first unity government.
The announcement on their appointments ended days of speculations on the composition of Kerajaan Perpaduan Malaysia's Cabinet made up of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and its other partners.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced Zahid's and Fadillah's appointments during a press conference at the Perdana Putra Complex, here today.
Anwar had previously indicated that BN and GPS would be given a deputy prime minister position each in the Cabinet under his leadership.
