PN rejects Pejuang's application to join coalition [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has rejected Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang)'s application to join the coalition.

PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said this was decided during the coalition's supreme council meeting on March 20, chaired by its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Also in attendance were party leaders including Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, and Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau.

"The supreme council has decided to reject Pejuang's application to join PN.

"The supreme council also has decided to continue using the PN logo for the state elections in Kedah, Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan, and use the Pas logo in Kelantan and Terengganu.

"We have also instructed the election machinery in the six states to strengthen preparations and readiness at the highest level," he said in a statement today.

In late February, Pejuang said it had applied to join PN as a component party.

Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the decision was made by the party's central executive council in a meeting after evaluating all existing political coalitions and cooperation in the country.

Meanwhile, Hamzah said PN also announced the appointment of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Mor as PN election director, while Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee and Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin as state liaison chiefs of Sabah and the Federal Territories respectively.
