SUNGAI BESAR: The woman recorded causing a commotion at a petrol station last week was brought to court today.
Elyna Muhamad, 42, pleaded guilty at the magistrate's court to three charges – making criminal threats, behaving indecently in a public place, and acting improperly at the police station.
Magistrate Siti Hajar Ali imposed a total fine of RM5,500 after Elyna admitted her guilt as the charges were read by the court interpreter.
According to the first charge, the mother of five threatened petrol station supervisor Shakir Zuhayri Zairul Rizal, 24, instilling fear during an incident at a petrol station in Hillpark Trade Center, Puncak Alam, at 7.50pm on Oct 17.
She was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both.
For the second charge, Elyna was accused of behaving indecently in public with the intent to provoke anger and disturb the peace, also at the same location and time.
This charge falls under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which, if convicted, carries a fine not exceeding RM100.
The third charge involved her improper behaviour at the Saujana Utama Police Station at 1.45am on Oct 19.
She was charged under Section 90 of the Police Act 1967, which carries a penalty of a fine not exceeding RM500 or imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Nor Hakimi Mohamad Rosedin requested the court to impose a suitable sentence as a deterrent to prevent Elyna from repeating her actions.
However, her lawyer, Shah Wira Abdul Halim, pleaded for a reduced fine, citing that Elyna was unemployed.
