[Updated] Asyraf Wajdi is new Umno sec-gen

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has been appointed as the new Umno secretary-general.

His appointment was announced by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a press conference at Menara Dato' Onn today.

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor remained Umno treasurer-general, and Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said was appointed the new information chief.

During the press conference, Zahid also announced the appointment of 13 members as Umno Supreme Council members.

They are Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Tan Sri Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh, Datuk Seri Ahmad Ismail, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Shafei Abdullah, Datuk Hasmuni Hassan, Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub, Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli, Datuk Mohd Ariff Abdul Majid, Datuk Seri Jailani Johari, Wanita deputy chief Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim, Youth deputy chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah and Puteri deputy chief Siti Sokhleha Nordin.

Also invited to the meeting were Datuk Mohamad Alamin as Umno Overseas Club head secretariat; Datuk Siti Aminah Aching as agriculture, plantation and community head secretariat; Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican as the election department head; Professor Emeritus Dr Kamaruddin M. Said as education secretariat head; Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharum as religious affairs chairman; Datuk Yakubah Khan as the head secretariat of the Sabah unity government and Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan as executive secretary.

Zahid also announced the state liaison chairmen and their deputies.

Perlis - Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman (chairman) and Datuk Dr Fathulbari Mat Jahya (deputy)

Kedah – Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (chairman) and Datuk Seri Abd Azeez Abd Rahim (deputy)

Kelantan – Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (chairman) and Tan Sri Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh (deputy)

Terengganu – Datuk Seri Ahmad Said (chairman) and Datuk Nik Dir Nik Wan Ku (deputy)

Penang – Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir (chairman) and Datuk Dr Shaikh Hussein Mydin (deputy)

Perak – Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad (chairman) and Datuk Azian Osman (deputy)

Pahang – Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (chairman) and Datuk Seri Abd Hamid Nazahar (deputy)

Selangor – Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin (chairman) and Datuk Johan Abd Aziz (deputy)
