KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will have the upper hand in the upcoming state elections if sacked Umno member Khairy Jamaluddin joined the contest under the coalition's ticket.
PN election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he was aware of speculations that there was a possibility that Khairy, who was Rembau member of parliament, could join PN.
"InsyaAllah, it is an advantage for us if he is (joining us).
"But now, it remains a speculation," said Sanusi at the breaking of fast and fund raising dinner for Pas Relief's Aid For Turkey and Syria.
In January, Khairy, who was Umno's three term Rembau MP and former Youth chief, was fired from the party for violating party discipline.
Khairy had been with the party for 23 years.
In the 15th General Election, Khairy was axed from defending his Rembau parliamentary seat.
He subsequently moved to Selangor's Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat and contested against PKR's Datuk R.Ramanan.
However, Khairy lost the seat.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said the party's door was open for Khairy to join.
Muhyiddin had described Khairy as a smart man, liked by the people and quite matured in politics.
