AYER KEROH: Ten members of the new state executive council line-up, including a DAP state assemblyman were sworn in today.
Eight assemblymen were reappointed to fill the ranks of the state exco members, while three were newly appointed to further strengthen the administrative structure of the state government led by the new Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Ab Rauf who is also the Tanjung Bidara assemblyman who was sworn in last Friday will lead the portfolio of Economic Planning, Finance, Land Affairs, Non-Government Agencies, Investment, Industry and TVET Development.
Leading the list of assemblymen who took the oath of office and oath of secrecy today was Paya Rumput assemblyman, Datuk Rais Yasin who was appointed as senior exco for the portfolio of Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management.
This was followed by Telok Mas assemblyman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman (Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture); Merlimau assemblyman Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh (Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security) and Pengkalan Batu assemblyman Datuk Kalsom Nordin (Women, Family and Community Development).
Also reappointed were Gadek assemblyman VP Shanmugam (Youth, Sports and NGO); Machap Jaya assemblyman Ngwe Hee Sem (Health, Human Resources and Unity) and Ayer Molek assemblyman Datuk Rahmad Mariman (Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs).
The three new assemblymen appointed were Asahan assemblyman Fairul Nizam Roslan (Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication); Ayer Limau assemblyman (Datuk Hameed Mytheen Kunju Basheer (Public Works, Infrastructure, Public Facilities and Transport) and Kesidang assemblyman Seah Shoo Shin (Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs).
The exco members were sworn in before Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam at the State Ceremonial Hall in Seri Negeri, here.
Also present were Ab Rauf and his wife, Datin Seri Zuriiyah Abdul Aziz; State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Wira Ibrahim Durum and State Government Secretary, Datuk Wira Zaidi Johari.
Meanwhile, two incumbent exco members were dropped from the position, namely Serkam assemblyman Datuk Zaidi Attan who previously held the position of Housing, Local Government and Environment exco and Rembia assemblyman Datuk Muhamad Jailani Khamis (Tourism, Culture and Heritage).
