Melaka offers RM10 Combo Menu to attract tourists

MELAKA: Melaka has launched the RM10 Combo Menu as part of the Melaka Nightlife programme in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024), in a ceremony held last night.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the initiative, set to run from Oct 5 to Nov 2, would see the participation of 30 restaurant, cafe and eatery operators across the state.

Participating outlets include Kilang Makan, Parang Cafe and The Windmill Station, offering a variety of dishes such as laksa nyonya, durian cendol and Western cuisine.

"This initiative will be held during the first week of every month in conjunction with the Melaka Nightlife programme from 11 pm to 2 am. It will serve as a new tourism attraction for the state in line with TMM2024.

"I encourage all eatery operators to support this initiative, as it will help stimulate the local economy. They can collaborate with the state government by offering the RM10 Combo Menu," he told reporters after launching the RM10 Combo Menu and Kilang Makan at Jalan Tun Ali here.

Meanwhile, Kilang Makan founder Hailhesfa Mohd Merry said over 20 food and beverage vendors at the premises would offer the RM10 Combo Menu to visitors and tourists.

He said this initiative was to support the state government's efforts to boost tourism by offering lower-priced menus than regular days, thus helping small traders generate more income.

Rohaini Iskandar, 38, a vendor at the Noodle Department in Kilang Makan, said she is offering a laksa nyonya set with mineral water for RM10, down from its original price of RM18.90.

"The Laksa Nyonya I serve is based on an original recipe passed down from my great-uncle in the Baba and Nyonya community. This initiative also helps promote my dishes to a broader audience," said Rohaini, who has been running her noodle business since 2015.
