PH wishes 'the best' to those wanting unity government to fall

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has offered "good wishes" to those plotting to topple the Malaysia Madani government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said they were unfazed by the relentless bid by some parties who threatened to bring down the six-month government.

"I wish him the best of luck," he said briefly after attending the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by the Defence Ministry at Kem Kementah, here.

Saifuddin was asked about a posting by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council member Dr Faiz Na'aman which read "126 already… If it's true, alhamdulillah."

The post seemed to indicate the number of parliamentary seats that it had secured to "take over" Anwar's government.

In another posting, Dr Faiz posted a series of screenshot conversations from a person, purportedly a member of the media who had asked if the opposition was confident of coming into power before the current government's term ended.

Dr Faiz replied, "Yes, we are. Insyaallah (God willing)."

Asked if such a move was in the works, Dr Faiz said he could not say more and felt it also depended on what the majority of the rakyat wanted.

Yesterday, Anwar did not deny the existence of conspiracy to topple his government but the plot did not have any strength and was engineered by "daydreamers".

He said it was more important that the unity government focused on its work for the nation and rakyat.

PH, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, he said, were committed to the government.

Anwar said it was better to disregard the daydreamers, who were merely "doing their job" to undermine the government with monthly strategies.
