Anwar unfazed by Muhyiddin-Dr M cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is not perturbed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's efforts to rekindle his political cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"It's okay. He has become fatigued," Anwar replied briefly.

Anwar, also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and PKR president, did not specify if he was referring to Dr Mahathir or Muhyiddin.

It was reported that Muhyiddin said he was ready to work with Dr Mahathir for the sake of the Malay cause.

Muhyiddin, also the president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) - a party previously led by Dr Mahathir before the infamous Sheraton Move - added that he would personally be ready to work with the former Langkawi member of parliament for the sake of defending religion, race and country.

"I am aware that recent political developments have put the Malays and Muslims in this country at bitter crossroads.

"So as a Muslim, I am personally ready to work with all Malay and Muslim figures, including Tun Dr Mahathir, for the sake of defending the religion, race and country," the Pagoh MP said in social media posting on his Facebook.

Muhyiddin's statement came after Dr Mahathir had said that he was also willing to work with the former again if the two could agree on the goals they wanted to accomplish together.
