State polls: S'gor MB confident of retaining two-thirds majority [NSTTV]

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is confident that the state government's performance and strong administration highlighted by Pakatan Harapan (PH) can help them defend the current administration in the coming state polls.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor PH chairman, said that throughout the five years since the 14th General Election (GE-14), there were no big issues at state level, thus showing the state's strong administration.

"Not impossible for us to repeat our 2018 (GE-14) success by winning more than 50 seats. So far, we are very positive and confident. Insya-Allah, we can retain the administration with a two-thirds majority," he told a special press conference in conjunction with the fifth anniversary of his administration at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah here today (June 19).

However, Amirudin said Selangor PH will not underestimate the efforts and dreams of Perikatan Nasional (PN), which wants to wrest the state in the coming polls.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today consented to dissolve the 14th Selangor State Assembly on Friday (June 23) to pave the way for the Selangor state elections to be held.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said that he and the state executive council members will form a caretaker government after the state assembly is dissolved on Friday until a new government is formed after the state polls. – BERNAMA
